It’s Interview Time: The Trial Close

The interview is coming to an end. You genuinely are interested in this new job or career opportunity, but no one has mentioned next steps.

Don’t leave it to chance.

Before you wrap up the interview and leave the room (or Zoom room), consider closing with a comment or questions such as:

“I enjoyed our conversation today, and based on what we discussed, I believe my experience and expertise would be a good fit for this position. I’m interested in pursuing this further. What will the next step be?”

Then, wait for the answer. You can gain a lot of insight based on their response to this question.

I recommend practicing your trial close out loud before the interview.
