Make Working from Home More Productive—The Power of Three

My friend told me she feels like a hamster these days.

Another said she’s busier than ever but has nothing to show for it.

Many of you may feel as if you’re running in circles or wasting time or simply having a hard time settling into a routine. After all, you’ve moved your office into your home, and it takes a while to get adjusted. I mean, at the office you didn’t have your golden retriever sitting in your lap while trying to compose emails or have to interrupt a Zoom meeting to spread peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for your new “coworkers.”

So, this is my one recommendation for all of you trying to make working from home work for you.

Write down three job-related tasks you will do today, and do them first.

That’s it.

This simple practice overcomes distractions—and yes, email can be a distraction. Place the files or papers on your designated work area at home so these three priorities are the first items you see–or star your email to-do’s so they’ll be at the top of your list each morning.
